As a highly experienced and masterful teacher who's been in the Pilates community for 15 years, Michelle's passion for Pilates began while she was in acting school in New York. She practiced yoga regularly and was heavily involved in mind/body healing through breathwork. It was then she suffered a terrible back injury and was healed through Pilates. In Pilates, she found a way that incorporated everything she believed in about physical and emotional health and she couldn't get enough of it!
Shortly after that, she began immersing herself in Pilates, learning Classical Pilates in New York under the lineage of Romana Kryzanowska, the oldest living protege of Joseph Pilates. Everything she learned there became the basis of her teaching and it was during this time that she cultivated her in-depth knowledge of Pilates. She then combined that with continued education, which cemented her Pilates expertise.
Michelle began teaching Pilates in Beverly Hills, working at some of the top Pilates studios as well as with rehab clients for physical therapists and chiropractors, while simultaneously owning hwe own business. Then she went on a life adventure and taught in Miami, New Orleans and Atlanta.
Pilates is truly for everyone, and she's worked with women and men of all ages, helping many people along the way. She's proud to say that many of her clients have experienced great changes in their body rather quickly while working with her. Whether it be losing inches, healing back, neck or hip problems, or strengthening a weak core, her focus and dedication to her client’s goals provide results in a short period of time.
MY STORY
A couple of years ago I fell down a steep flight of stairs in my building. I was carrying something very heavy and missed the 2nd step. As my body lunged forward, I flew up into the air, my body spun around and I went rolling down the stairs backwards at the speed of lightening and my head hit the concrete landing twice. I jumped up and started screaming for help. The paramedics came, examined me and said to me in shock ' We can't believe we're saying this, but we think you're okay. We've seen the same thing happen with catastrophic endings.' They took me to the ER to get a cat scan and the technician looked at me incredulously and asked me 'How are you still standing? How are you walking around?!' And I answered him with one word. Pilates. Well, 2 words, God and Pilates. You see, my body was conditioned - my abdominals and spine specifically- were conditioned from years of Classical Pilates to withhold this kind of trauma. That's what I've been doing myself, on my own, for a long time. And that's what I promise I will teach you - how to have abdominals so strong, a spine supple and limber, a body ready for anything that life has to offer.
